Precious

Based on the novel "Push", an obese and poorly educated girl about to have her second child enrolls into an alternative school to fight for the life she deserves. Set in Harlem, this film is rough to watch with harsh language and scenes of abuse, but excellent casting makes for a powerful impact. Life has never been depicted in such a raw perspective as that of young Precious.

Buttery

Sherlock Holmes

Detective Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and Dr. Watson (Jude Law) team up to save England. Lots of action sets you up for a sequel already in production. The charm of this film makes it a wonderful holiday adventure.

Extra Butter

The Cove

This documentary on dolphin killings in Taijii, Japan alerts its audience to ugly truth of animal abuse. A group of activists led by dolphin trainer Ric O’Barry (known for Flipper) unite in a cause to expose the political cover-up. An eye-opening perspective that informs its audience to this disturbing genocide.

The Blind Side

Sandra Bullock stars as a strong-willed southern mother who nurtures young, homeless Michael Oher as part of her family to become a great All American football player. The film was done well without stressing religion too much or dwelling excessively on the boy's past. A good pick for the holiday season.

Extra Butter

Paranormal Activity

A couple living in a suburban home encounter a demon that won't leave them alone or let them sleep. This low budget film is too predictable to evoke terror. Overall, its what I'd like to call: Lame.

Stale

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Inspired by the children's' book, this film will have kids cheering as geeky Flink Lockwood makes food fall from the sky. This film includes an inventive story full of vibrant colors. A rainy day favorite that will put a smile on young faces.

Whatever Works

When an elderly New Yorker and a young girl from the south meet, they will erk each other's comfortable existence. Woody Allen writes/directs this unusual comedy questioning the mysteries of the universe. This film has its movements and provides a few laughs that help to pass away a leisurely day.

Salty

The Answer Man

Do you have the answers to life's purpose? Spirituality author (Jeff Daniels) encounters a single mother and recovering alcoholic who seek his holly advice. Slow at first, but once the characters develop more the plot takes an intriguing twist worth watching.

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

Used-car salesman (Jeremy Piven) is called into a dealership to liquidate their lot over the 4th of July holiday. He brings his team to help sweep the cars out and turn a big profit in record time, but runs into competition along the way. A basic story with ridiculous characters (even a role for Will Ferrell) is good for a few laughs.

The Graduate (1967)

A college graduate (Dustin Hoffman) has an affair with his father's business partner while simultaneously falling in love with her daughter. The film attempts to be artistic and is a classic for its time. A break through role for Hoffman and a drama filled script.

The Hangover

A bachelor party in Las Vegas turns into a drunk night of disarray trying to find their lost groom before the wedding. This is a classic guy flick including drugs, a newborn, gambling, a tiger, Mike Tyson and other oddities that are sure to make you laugh. No wonder men can't seem to live without women in their lives.
